Studying - October
Hi Everyone!
I hope that October treated you all well. I'm afraid this is going to be a much shorter blog post as I have the first of my exams tomorrow so have been working hard revising for that which hasn't left me much time.
This month has been a struggle of balancing university and my social life. I obviously know that I have to do well in exams and that's very important to me but it's also the last time that I will see some people I've become very fond of for possibly years, which is sad.
So the second part of this month has consisted of revising and seeing people when I have a chance. With the rugby World Cup we have got into a nice routine of having taco night (which I like to think we've now perfected) and watching the rugby! And we're heading to an English pub to watch the final which we're very excited about!!
Moreton Island
At the beginning of the month 6 of us went away to Moreton Island for a long weekend to celebrate one of my friend's birthday's. We went for 3 days and took the hour and a half ferry ride across. It's a proper tropical island, in fact it's the third largest sand island in the world and is 95% national park with less than 300 people living there. We rented a villa right on the sand and we could see the view in the photo above from the bedrooms.
Ironically, we happened to go there on the one weekend where there was a storm, and there had been a severe drought for months. The taxi driver confidently told us that despite the weather reports, "there was no way it could possibly rain". Well, he was definitely wrong. It was actually quite incredible though as we could see the storm coming in across the water complete with thunder and lightning. You can probably see how dark the clouds are in that photo.
However, it didn't storm the whole time and we got 2 good days out of the trip On one of them we went on a 4-wheel coach over the sand dunes and went sandboarding! The sand was entirely white and the dunes were absolutely huge.
| Me with my two favourite people that I've met here...no points for where Antoine comes from! He sure loves his university... |
We also went snorkelling around a shipwreck which has turned into a beautiful reef. That was just incredible to see such amazing fishes so close to the shore. We also saw hundreds of tiny crabs on the beach which must have been disturbed after the storm and starfish!
Overall it was a really lovely relaxing weekend and it was good to do absolutely no work. Even having a day inside with the storm was quite nice; we played card games and just hung out. Shock horror- there was no WiFi! So it was interesting keeping ourselves entertained for a whole day but we managed!

Sorry that this blog post has been so short, I really can't say that I've been up to anything else worth noting. Next month however is going to be so exciting! It will be the start of my summer holidays which are going to last from the 12th November to 21st February!
So on the 16th November I am off to New Zealand for a month! I will be sure to keep everyone updated and I will take lots of photos. I am very very excited! We will be doing the South Island for 2 weeks and then the North Island for the last 2 and are hoping to see absolutely everywhere.
All my love,
M xxx
